Universal Sports, a subsidiary channel of NBC sports, will be the broadcast partner for the Rugby Seven’s action from the 2010/11 HSBC Sevens World Series.
The lightning-fast seven-per-side action, will start with coverage just online, with airing on the channel planned for next year, with specific details yet to be fully confirmed.
The World Series will features top teams from across the world, including England, New Zealand and South Africa, competing in cities across the world including Dubai and Honk Kong, with teams accumulating points after every game of play. The Samoan national side won the competition last year.
The series opens in Dubai, with the US “Eagles” facing off against the infamous New Zealand side, before travelling to South Africa, with coverage streaming all days on universalsports.com. Subsequent action from the other locales including South Africa, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Australia, England and Scotland in February, March, April and May will air on the Universal Sports channel.
